‘No alarm bells’ for Spahic

Sevilla doctor Juan Jose Jimenez has reassured supporters that Emir Spahic’s condition is less serious than first thought.

The Bosnian defender was stretchered off midway through the second half of his side’s match at Rayo Vallecano today after a collision with teammate Alberto Botia.

The player was struck on the right cheekbone and had caused concern, but Jimenez has revealed that his condition is greatly improved.

“He suffered a trauma to a bad area of the head, we attended to him on the pitch and in the dressing room,” he told SFC Radio post-match.

“At no time did he lose consciousness. He has recuperated very quickly his orientation and his vital signs are all normal.

“Very quickly he began talking normally and there are no alarm bells right now. He has showered, is on his feet and has spoken about the game with his teammates.”
