Emir Spahic has left Sevilla’s Copa del Rey preparations to travel to Russia to complete a transfer to Anzhi Makhachkala.
The Russians’ transfer window remains open and Sevilla have confirmed via brief statement that they have reached a ‘tentative agreement’ with free-spending Anzhi over the transfer for their centre-back.
Originally with the rest of the team for the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid to be played tonight, Spahic has been given permission to travel out to Moscow to conclude talks.
Terms of the deal are that the 32-year-old will join Anzhi on loan until the end of the season, for a reported fee of €1.1m, but other sources suggest that the initial sum could be as high as €2.3m.
Sevilla have confirmed that the Russians do then have a purchase option in place to make the deal permanent in the summer, and this is believed to be in the region of €1.5m.
Negotiations will have to be concluded on Wednesday, which is the final day of the transfer window in Russia.
