Courtois rubs salt into Chelsea wounds

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois rubbed salt into Chelsea wounds after the European Super Cup final in Monaco.

The Belgian international is on loan at the Vicente Calderon from Chelsea but was given special dispensation to play in the clash at Monaco’s Stade Louis II.

However, after seeing Diego Simeone’s men run riot against the disappointing Premier League outfit, the 20-year-old said the Spanish side could have won by an even greater margin.

“I didn’t have much to do because Simeone’s tactical plan worked to perfection,” he told Canal Plus.

“We played very well, knew how we were going to play, and everything went very smoothly.

“A 4-1 victory against the Champions League winners is very good and we could even have won 6-1 or 7-1. It’s fantastic for us and our fans,” he added.
