Club captain Gabi has declared that Atletico Madrid were ‘fully deserving’ of their 4-1 UEFA Super Cup win over Chelsea, for ‘totally dominating’ the match.
Inspired by a Radamel Falcao hat-trick, the capital outfit were comfortable in a convincing win in the UEFA showpiece, as Gabi enthused.
“The team has put in a tremendous effort against a great opponent. Our dominance has been total and we are fully deserving of the win,” the midfielder declared after the game.
“We knew we had a great group and that we were with a great player [Falcao] who can make the difference, and he has done so again today.
“Let’s take things game by game, the team should be among the best there are. Tomorrow we return to Madrid to be with those who could not be here.”
