Sevilla defender Coke has turned down the chance to join Real Zaragoza on loan, reports Diario de Sevilla.
Coke, in his second season with the Andalusians following a €1.8m move from Rayo Vallecano, will instead fight for the right-back spot at the Sanchez Pizjuan with recent signing Cicinho.
Zaragoza boss Manolo Jimenez is still looking to supplement his wafer-thin squad before the close of the transfer market and was hopeful of persuading the Madrid-born player to move to La Romareda.
However, Coke is reluctant to give up the opportunity of a place in Michel’s starting line-up and will attempt to convince the Sevilla boss he is worthy of a spot.
“We have received an offer for a player who featured in a lot of games for us last year, one I would say was a first-team regular.
“We have informed Coke but he has told us he prefers to continue here. Therefore, he is still one of us,” said Michel.
