Former Sevilla captain Coke is set to return to La Liga in January after being frozen out at Schalke, according to reports in Spain.
The 30-year-old joined the Bundesliga side in the summer of 2016 in a €5m deal but suffer a cruciate ligament injury the following week, ruling him out until April.
Despite a run in the side towards the end of last season, he has featured only once in the league this season – as a substitute- as the club’s 3-5-2 formation does not accommodate him.
Estadio Deportivo now report that both Alaves and Levante are ‘extremely keen’ in his signature, and a move back to Spain in January is ‘almost certain’.
