Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin is believed to be on the verge of signing for Manchester City.
Mundo Deportivo report that a deal to take the centre-back to Etihads is almost done.
The Premier League champions were rebuffed in their attempts to sign Liverpool's Daniel Agger earlier in the summer, and have instead turned their attentions to the 26-year-old Uruguayan.
Godin joined Los Colchoneros from Villarreal in 2010 for €8m, and his current deal with the club runs until 2015.
Napoli and Liverpool were said to be interested in the former Nacional player, but have allegedly pulled out of negotiations because they believe the €10m move to Roberto Mancini's side is virtually complete.
