Former Barca VP at City

Manchester City have appointed former Barcelona Vice-President Ferran Soriano as their new executive director.

Soriano, who was also President of the now defunct Spainair, will begin his new role with Roberto Mancini’s men from the start of next month.

“I am delighted to begin this term as executive director at Manchester City,” Soriano expressed in a statement today.

“The vision of the owners and their commitment, and that of the President and board, make this opportunity absolutely compelling.”

Soriano, who replaces Garry Cook at Eastlands, spent five years with La Blaugrana in a similar responsibility and oversaw a cumulative profit of €88m the result of his work.
