Arsenal want Llorente

Juventus could face competition from Arsenal for the signature of Fernando Llorente, according to El Confidencial.

The Gunners lost Robin Van Persie to Manchester United on Wednesday and boss Arsene Wenger is anxious to bring in a ready-made replacement for the Dutch international striker.

Van Persie had been a target for the Old Lady over the summer but, having failed to lure him to Turin, Juventus have turned their attention to Athletic Bilbao’s Llorente.

The 27-year-old has less than a year left on his contract at San Mames and is therefore considered available for transfer, with Arsenal now understood to have joined the race for his signature.

A report in the Daily Star suggests both Manchester United and Manchester City could make a late bid for the Spanish international, with Barcelona and Milan also being tentatively linked with the striker.
