Mallorca overcome Wigan Athletic

Real Mallorca made light work of beating an ineffectual Wigan Athletic side 2-0 at the DW Stadium.

Second-half goals from Victor Casadesus and substitute Kevin Garcia proved enough for Joaquin Caparros’ men to earn their second pre-season victory following the 2-1 win over AZ Alkmaar.

The Islanders dominated the game against Ivan Ramis’ new team – the former Mallorca defender joined the Premier League club last week – despite having to put together a makeshift back line.

The loss of Ramis along with Chico and Marti Crespi forced Caparros to improvise at centre-back, with youngster Pedro Bigas lining up next to Nunes, but Roberto Martinez’s Wigan made few inroads in what was in truth a game of few chances.
