Abidal to attend Barca-PSG game

Eric Abidal will travel with Barcelona for the friendly with Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Saturday night.

The club’s official website says the French defender is continuing to dophysical exercise as part of his convalescence period after undergoing a liver transplant almost four months ago.

After being released from hospital on May 21, however, Abidal is now attempting to get his career back on track although he is a long way off a first-team return.

Nonetheless, the trip to his native country is seen as an emotional boost for the 32-year-old, who doctors are confident can still return to the level he was at after expressing satisfaction with the way his recovery is coming along.

Abidal made 22 La Liga appearances last term before being diagnosed with a tumour in his liver last March, yet was at the club’s Sant Joan Despi facility on the first day of pre-season training to greet his Barca teammates.
