Dos Santos wants La Liga return

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani dos Santos has reiterated his desire to move back to Spain.

The 23-year-old hardly featured at White Hart Lane last season, making just seven substitute appearances, but has had an impressive start to the London Olympics where he scored both Mexico goals in their 2-0 victory over Gabon in Coventry on Sunday.

“I have always said that I would like to play in La Liga again but I have a contract with Tottenham and, until that ends or I am told otherwise, I can’t say anything about my future,” he told assembled media after the game.

Dos Santos, signed for €6m from Barcelona in June 2008, spent the latter part of the 2010-11 campaign on loan at Racing Santander, scoring five goals in 16 games, and has been linked with several Spanish clubs over the summer including Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Malaga.

“The truth is that I am very proud great teams such as these are looking at me. They are clubs of a very high level.

“There have been lots of rumours in Spain and I don’t what is true and what isn’t.

“I would love to go back and we will see what happens after the Games,” he concluded.
