Sevilla line up Blackburn midfielder

A report in The Mirror claims Blackburn Rovers defensive midfielder Steven N’Zonzi is being lined up for a move to Sevilla.

The Frenchman has been with the Lancashire club for three years since signing from Amiens in 2009 for a reported €500,000 fee, and was linked with a number of clubs in last season’s winter transfer window.

However, Rovers’ asking price of €10m deterred any potential suitors but after suffering relegation last term the Lancashire club are now understood to be open to new offers.

Sevilla boss Michel currently has a surfeit of midfield players, despite this week’s departures of Tiberio Guarente and Ndri Romaric to Bologna and Real Zaragoza respectively, with Javi Hervas, Hedwiges Maduro and Geoffrey Kondogbia having been signed recently.

Michel also has Gary Medel, Piotr Trochowski, Ivan Rakitic and Jose Campana to call upon, plus others that can also operate in the middle such as Jose Antonio Reyes and Bryan Rabello, but it is believed he is still searching for a tall, physical presence and, standing at 6ft 4inN’Zonzi could fit the bill.
