Demidov completes Eintracht switch

Real Sociedad have sold Norwegian international defender Vadim Demidov to Eintracht Frankfurt for €500,000, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The Txuri-urdin had agreed a fee with English side Wolverhampton Wanderers last week but the Latvian-born 25-year-old has opted to join the German outfit, who were promoted to the Bundesliga last season after a 12-month absence.

Demidov, who still had one year left on his contract at Anoeta, was signed on a free transfer from Rosenborg in July 2010 – although the agreement did not take effect until the following January. He is understood to have informed Sociedad this summer that he missed his girlfriend and family and wanted a move nearer home.

In his 18 months at Anoeta, Demidov made a total of 40 appearances and was a regular starter under former boss Martin Lasarte, although he has since found it difficult to get into Philippe Montanier’s starting line-up.

A statement on the club’s official website said that Real wanted to thank Demidov for his commitment and professionalism during his stay in San Sebastian, while wishing him luck in his personal and professional life.
