Villarreal have sacked Coach Luis Garcia Plaza just seven weeks after his appointment, the club have confirmed on Tuesday.
The Yellow Submarine are just one place off the foot of La Liga and the club are without a win in nine domestic matches.
Garcia Plaza was brought in to the Estadio Ceramica during December having coached Chinese Super League club Beijing Renhe having previously been at the helm of Elche, Levante and Getafe.
Villarreal were dumped out of the Copa del Rey by Espanyol and lost 3-0 at Valencia on Saturday, which turned out to be Garcia Plaza’s last match at the helm.
The Coach's only victory in charge was a triumph at home to Spartak Moscow in the Europa League group stage, on 13 December.
