Sergi Roberto wants lifelong Barca stay

Sergi Roberto wants to stay at Barcelona ‘forever’ amid reports a number of clubs will seek to trigger his €40m release clause at the Camp Nou.

The 25-year-old won the Best Catalan Footballer of the Year at an awards ceremony on Monday, having played 63 matches for the Blaugrana since the beginning of the 2016/17 season.

“Barca are the club of my life and I want to stay here forever,” Roberto stated in his acceptance speech, as quoted by ESPN.

“So I want it to be clear: no one should worry about my renewal. I am at the best club in the world and I've been lucky to come through the youth teams and reach the first team. I am really happy here.”

Roberto has been linked to a number of clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus.
