David De Gea has warned international teammate and fellow goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga against moving abroad.

The Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper’s contract expires in June and he has been linked with a move away from Spain, alongside speculation with a switch to Real Madrid.

“When a player leaves Spain, sometimes you are a little bit forgotten about,” De Gea told a press conference, in quoted carried by Diario AS.

“It is not as easy for us to be followed and monitored as those who are playing at home, in La Liga, and you cannot forget that.

“Kepa is still young and he will have a long and successful career, that is all in front of him but his head is in the right place to succeed.

“He trains at an extremely high level and keeps growing after every game, all the national team goalkeepers do and we are here to help Spain.”
