Pep sadness at Lucho departure

Former Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola has expressed his sadness and disappointment that Luis Enrique is stepping down as manager at the club.

The current Manchester City boss managed the Catalans between 2007 and 2012 and hailed the job of Enrique – a former teammate of his – since taking the reins at Camp Nou in 2014, after he announced he would be stepping down in June.

"I have two reactions. As a Barcelona fan, as a supporter, the club of my heart, I am so sad,” said Guardiola when questioned on the news after his side’s FA Cup win over Huddersfield Town.

"We are going to miss the perfect trainer for his personality, his character. In his three years he played unbelievable football with unbelievable players.

"The second, if he has decided that, I understand him completely and of course I wish him the best.

"As a fan, from the membership of Barcelona, I say thank you for all he has done in three years at my club.''
