Unai Emery refused to get carried away with his Paris Saint-Germain’s side thumping 4-0 win over Barcelona and called on his side to retain their focus.
The former Almeria and Sevilla Coach had only defeated the Catalan side once in 22 previous meetings before the clash at the Parc des Princes.
“We used what we had worked on before the match,” Emery told reporters at his post-match press conference.
“Barcelona is a great team with great players, we had to remain focused on the game for the full 90 minutes and we knew we would have to be efficient both individually and as a group to win the game.
“We played 90 minutes, but there are still 90 minutes to go in Barcelona.
“We’ll continue to respect our opponent by working hard so that we have another good 90 minutes.”
The return leg will take place at Camp Nou on 8 March.
