Zidane: Madrid lacked focus

Zinedine Zidane admitted Real Madrid “lacked concentration” at times during their 3-1 win at Osasuna in La Liga on Saturday.

Second-half goals from Isco and Lucas Vazquez were needed for Madrid to overcome Osasuna, who had held Los Blancos for half an hour, leaving Zidane relieved more than anything to leave El Sadar with all three points.

“What I can say is that we won a complicated match,” the Coach said after the game.

“The rival pushed very high and caused us problems, but we got three points and that’s the most important thing.

“Best and worst? The worst is when you score the first goal and 10 minutes later you’re level again because you’re not ready.

“It can happen. Sometimes, your concentration is lacking. We could’ve played in the second half and not killed the game off.

“After that, you have to watch the game again to analyse it. At half-time, with 45 minutes still to play, we knew we could get [the second goal].

“The difference between the leaders and bottom team wasn’t seen at all.

“We’ve suffered. I already said it and that’s what happened. Ultimately, games are there to be played and our opponents always make it difficult. Those in attack did very well. We got what we were looking for.

“Danilo and Tano? I’m sorry for the Osasuna player. Danilo’s is a knock, we’ll see but I think it’s a knock.

“James? I saw him play well, he did very well when he came on because it’s not easy when the game is end-to-end. James has this calmness to make others play.”
