Ramos: ‘Bernabeu will not change’

Sergio Ramos has echoed Zinedine Zidane's comments that players need affection from fans in difficult times, but accepts the Bernabeu crowd will not change.

Los Blancos have come in for criticism after recent defeats to Sevilla and Celta Vigo, while sections of the home support whistled their disapproval at the performances of certain stars during yesterday's 2-1 win over Malaga.

"I have always said that we will not change the Bernabeu," Ramos said when asked whether the abuse was fair. "I have been here many years and, like Marcelo said after the Copa, here they have whistled all the greats.

"It is a jolt of warning that is always meant for the team to react. But it is in the difficult moments that everyone needs affection, not more bother.

"We know what our support is like and we want it that way. The aim is that we are all one and move forward."

The Madrid captain's two first half goals made the difference in yesterday's encounter and made him the club's second highest scorer this season. However, the defender is unsure whether this is a good thing.

"I don't know if it is a goos sign. It's true that the season is very long and it's a stretch to think it will end and I will be the second highest scorer!

"We have a lot of goalscorers and I am sure they will have the chance to overtake me.

"On a personal level, I am very happy because I haven't scored that many in my career."
