Voro named Valencia boss

Valencia have confirmed that caretaker manager Voro Gonzalez will remain as coach of the club until the end of the current season at least.

The former Valencia defender was appointed as temporary manager of the club for the fifth time in his career last month after former boss Cesare Prandelli walked out, less than three months after he had stepped in for the outgoing Pako Ayestaran.

"Valencia CF wish to reaffirm the club's absolute backing for Voro Gonzalez as first team coach until the end of the present season," read a club statement.

"The club also wish to stress its total confidence in the ability of the squad and the coaching staff to improve the sporting performance over the coming months – with the intention of overcoming the delicate current sporting situation."

Los Che are now winless in eight La Liga fixtures after conceding a last minute equaliser at Osasuna on Monday night and are only one point above the relegation zone, though they have a game in hand against current league leaders Real Madrid.
