Sergio Ramos has revealed his secret to scoring late goals after another in Real Madrid’s dramatic 3-2 win against Deportivo La Coruna – his mentality.
Ramos’ last-gasp header was his second match-winner in stoppage time for Madrid since the 2014 Champions League final, when his header took the game to extra time en route to Los Blancos beating their arch-rivals Atletico 4-1.
“We fought to the end and that’s why things like this happen,” the defender said after the match.
“It wasn’t a great game. We made mistakes that penalised us, but eventually we turned it around.
“There’s a lot to reflect and improve on. In the end, we were able to beat a Deportivo side that did very well.
“In the first half, we had many chances but didn’t take them. After that, we left spaces behind and they countered us.
“Still, we won the match and we’re going like this to a competition like the Club World Cup.
“My goal? It’s thanks to my mentality: the desire to continue working and improving, plus make it difficult to come back.”
