Berizzo blasts Celta pitch problems

Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Berizzo has blamed the poor state of the pitch at Estadio Balaidos for an injury sustained by in-form Iago Aspas.

The 29-year-old striker opened the scoring for Celta against Granada in a 3-1 win for the Galicians but came off with four minutes of the match remaining, which his Argentine boss explained was due to discomfort in his abductor leg muscle.

“We must adapt to a pitch where the players must take risks for injuries,” lamented Berizzo after the game, which brought Celta into 9th.

“We won the match with authority but until the late goal we suffered because we did not take our chances and let them back into the game.

“The game was under control, we had good possession of the ball and did well against a side who are well-organised and hard to break down and eventually our patience paid off.”

Granada stay bottom of the table, winless after thirteen matches and stuck on five points.
