Thiago: No Barca regrets

Thiago Alcantara insists he does not regret leaving Barcelona for Bayern Munich. “Football is global, it doesn’t stop at Barca.”

Thiago was expected to be Xavi Hernandez’s heir at Barca but instead followed Pep Guardiola to Bayern in the summer of 2013, where he remains to this day.

“I don’t regret leaving Barcelona. Football is global, it doesn’t stop at Barca,” the Spain midfielder told Cadena COPE.

“Messi and Ronaldo? I'm tired of comparisons between them. It’s not healthy for football. They’re the two best players in the world.

“Guardiola? I learned a lot from him, it’s been fantastic to work with him. He’s one of the best Coaches in the world.

“Spain? I was right to choose them. They’re a source of pride for me, so the decision was easy. I love Spain.

“One of my dreams is to lift a trophy with Spain. I’ve lifted trophies in the past that didn’t feel like mine.

“My injuries haven’t made me a different player, but I think I’ve matured.

“Xavi? I don’t mind being compared to a legend like Xavi, it’s a compliment.”
