Quique Sanchez Flores describes Espanyol as ‘the ideal place to build’ as he in unveiled as the club’s new Coach.
Sanchez Flores, most recently at Watford, was confirmed on the bench at Cornella-El Prat and presented to the media on Monday, speaking of his intentions now he is employed at the ambitious club.

“We are starting to build. There have been three weeks in which we haven’t stopped for a moment. We want to succeed in the selection of players. We want commitment, the ideal player with a good mentality. We will be adaptable with our identity, but solid.
“We have a definite idea of being a balanced team, playing good football, but it depends on the squad we’re able to put together. We’ll be smart and have the philosophy that best suits us.
“In recent years I have moved with my heart and gone where I thought I’d be happy and could enjoy my work. I want to work every day being clear we have to reach the fans and this is our job. I believe Espanyol is the ideal place to build.
“Pressure is implicit in this profession. I don’t know what it is to work without pressure. We don’t want to fight in the League between 10th and 20th but 10th and above. The first year is the hardest, we’ll have to make more changes, but from there we will meet our goals.
“We work for the fans. Our hope is to build for them. We have to reach their hearts, create emotion. That’s what it’s about.
