Marcelino admits everyone at Villarreal has been affected by the club’s Europa League semi-final defeat to Liverpool.
Villarreal went to Anfield with a 1-0 lead from the first leg but lost 3-0 on the night to bow out and miss a first-ever European final, where they would have played La Liga rivals Sevilla, who beat Shakhtar Donetsk.
“It’s not an easy time. Elimination from the Europa League has been very hard. The entire squad is affected, like all the club because we were very excited by the competition and we want to reach the final, but we move on,” he told a Press conference prior to the game against Deportivo La Coruna, AS reports.
“The game should serve as a mutual tribute between the fans and the team after a great season.”
