‘Ref gave penalty he didn’t see’

Real Sociedad President Jokin Aperribay fumed with referee Jose Luis Gonzalez Gonzalez for his performance in defeat to Real Madrid.

Madrid were awarded two first half penalties, both taken by Cristiano Ronaldo, the first missed and the second scored, while Jonathas felt he should have had a spot kick for a foul by Pepe.

“It’s a shame to come to Santiago Bernabeu eager to make a good game and you get two penalties given,” Aperribay complained, AS reports.

“The first wasn’t a penalty and neither was the second. The referee’s whistled without seeing anything.”

La Real’s game was also hampered by injuries to Imanol Agirretxe and Sergio Canales, the latter more serious than the former, and Aperribay discussed those and the team’s development under Eusebio Sacristan.

“I hope [the injury to Canales] is minor. I don’t the extent of the injuries, I prefer to go and consult with the doctors before making an assessment,” he said.

“You have to see the team’s attitude, it’s brave, with desire, all together. This is the way to get results.”
