Ceballos ready to commit to Betis

Dani Ceballos should soon sign his Real Betis contract now he has returned from international duty with only formalities outstanding.

Estadio Deportivo reports the deal would likely have been completed already but Ceballos was away with the Spain Under-21s and unable to sign anything.

But there was a meeting between the club and his representatives at which the framework of an agreement was reached, although it’s not settled if the new contract will run until 2019 or 2020.

What is clear is that Ceballos will move to become one of the highest-paid players at Benito Villamarin, on €800,000 a season, not quite one of the top earners at the club but in the very next bracket below.

Ceballos’ escape clause would be put at €12m and then €15m, depending on meeting a number of objectives.

Sporting director Eduardo Macia this week spoke positively about the chances of the deal being concluded, and Estadio Deportivo suggests the next few days could see an announcement.
