Gracia: Malaga need to win quickly

Javi Gracia has admitted that Malaga need a win “quickly” ahead of their trip to La Liga basement boys Getafe on Friday.

The Andalucians have yet to score after three matches, drawing 0-0 with Sevilla and Eibar and losing 1-0 to Barcelona, but the Coach believes his side’s strong defensive record puts them in good stead for when they take to Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

“We must travel to Getafe, thinking we’ll do well and that we’ll make things right,” he said at a Press conference.

“I think we’ve had chances to score and pick up wins in our first three matches, but it didn’t happen, so we’ll try again [against Getafe] and hopefully achieve it.

“I trust what my team are doing and that our work will pay off because we’ve been tough defensively. We just need to be more successful going forward.

“We’ve demonstrated [our defensive qualities] against three good teams, and this gives us the confidence to improve.

“We can’t be happy with just that, but it gives us the peace of mind that we can win games with only a few goals.

“We want to pick up a victory quickly. Getafe’s matches have been fairly even, and their style is similar to last season’s, but Fran Escriba has added his own value too.”
