Diego Simeone sees a lot of Atletico Madrid in Sunday’s opponents Sevilla. ‘They’re strong and their Coach has had to reinvent the team.’
Simeone, a former Sevilla player, reflected on his time at the club before commenting on how Los Rojiblancos stand today.
“They treated me wonderfully in Seville. I have great memories of what I experienced there,” he said, Marca reports.
“Sevilla are our mirror. They’re strong and their Coach has had to reinvent them.”
Simeone added that he hadn’t decided on the team for Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan but did confirm Jesus Gamez would play at left-back.
“I’ll decide whether [Luciano] Vietto, Jackson [Martinez] or [Fernando] Torres starts,” he continued.
“Names don’t make teams or squads. They generate expectation. We have a squad of good players, but it’s the results that say if we’re great.
“Filipe Luis can’t travel. Gamez will play as he did many times last year on that side.”
