Moyes dismisses pre-season defeats

David Moyes has insisted that Real Sociedad's pre-season performances “don't matter” ahead of Saturday's trip to Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga.

La Real won just one of their seven friendlies during the close season, with no victories in their last four, but the former Everton and Manchester United manager is nonetheless adamant that his side are ready for the new campaign.

“We're prepared for the start of the season. [Our pre-season performances] don't matter,” he said at a Press conference.

“Deportivo are a strong side and will pose a difficult game, but I hope to see a competitive Real.

“[The fixture changes] may cause harm to the players who are in the Champions League. However, we think it's best [to play over New Year].

“It'll be interesting to see if it affects Real Madrid or Barcelona in the Champions League.”
