Casillas gets Del Bosque backing

Vicente Del Bosque confirms Iker Casillas will remain in the Spain side despite leaving Real Madrid for Porto, and also discussed Marco Asensio.

The national team Coach travelled to Mallorca and was asked by the assembled Press about Casillas, captain of La Roja.

“We have to accept the situation as normal and we will continue with him,” the trainer said, AS reports.

The subject of Asensio, a star of the Spain youth set-up and a former Real Mallorca player, now on the books of Los Blancos, was raised as well.

“He’s a great player in the Under-19s, and he’s joined a big club. They, not I, decide what is best for him,” Del Bosque contended.

Del Bosque also offered his support to Albert Ferrer, the new Coach of Mallorca, but warned he faces a difficult challenge in getting the Segunda side promoted.

“I wish him all the luck in the world. It won’t be easy. There are a lot of Segunda teams with promotion chances.”
