Sevilla plan Monchi renewal

Sevilla are reportedly working on a lucrative contract renewal for sporting director Monchi and hope to finalise negotiations within the next fortnight.

The former goalkeeper has headed the Andalucians’ recruitment operations for the past 15 years and become universally renowned in the football sphere for his shrewd business in the transfer market.

Consequently, Marca claims Sevilla are planning to extend his contract until 2020 and reward him with a considerable pay rise as a token of their appreciation for his continued efforts.

The 47-year-old is expected to agree terms with the Europa League winners within the next two weeks, in the knowledge that most of the club’s transfer business for 2015-16 has already been done.

The likes of Ciro Immobile, Steven N’Zonzi and Yevhen Konoplyanka have already joined Sevilla this summer, with Carlos Bacca and Aleix Vidal departing for a combined €52m.
