Nuno: Valencia must improve

Nuno Santo has demanded a significant improvement from his Valencia players following Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to Bayern Munich.

A second-half masterclass from Bayern, thanks to goals from Thomas Muller, Thiago Alcantara and Robert Lewandowski, saw Los Che take a hammering in Beijing, and the Coach admitted his side fell apart.

“We matched [Bayern] for the first 45 minutes, but we must draw conclusions [from the result],” he said after the game.

“We have to work much, much better. The second half wasn’t good and 1-4 is a result that we don’t like, but it tells us to work harder.

“[Bayern] are a great team, who have trained one more week than us. What I value most is the players’ commitment to improving.

“At the moment, only a few of our players are able to play with intensity for 90 minutes, but we’ll be fully prepared to play within a month.

“We have a good squad with great quality and versatility.”

Nuno also confirmed that Jose Luis Gaya picked up a sprained ankle in the opening 10 minutes of the match but was confident of a quick return for the left-back.
