Cholo expects Madrid to win La Liga

Diego Simeone can’t see any team other than Real Madrid winning the League next season, describing their lack of domestic success as ‘illogical.’

Simeone is currently in his native Argentina but has spoken to Radio Marca, discussing both his team and Atletico Madrid’s city rivals.

“It will be difficult for Madrid not to leave as champions,” he said, before heaping the pressure on Los Blancos.

“They will be prepared in a very special way. They sign the best players, so it can’t be that they don’t win something. It’s illogical.

“One League win in seven years isn’t enough. If I was a Madrid fan I’d be concerned we couldn’t keep up with Atletico.

“Barcelona should be concerned as next season won’t be so easy for them.”

Madrid will begin the season under new management, with Rafa Benitez replacing Carlo Ancelotti on the bench.

“Benitez is a successful Coach, knows Madrid and certainly has the chance to do things right,” Simeone said of his counterpart.

“Ancelotti did an outstanding job. He had a lot of problems, being without [Angel] Di Maria, [Xabi] Alonso, the injuries to [Luka] Modric and James [Rodriguez]. These are the risks of a demanding season.

“I don’t have the money to sign Madrid players. In goal, for example, we’re very happy with [Jan] Oblak and [Miguel] Moya.

“Sergio Ramos? He’s an extraordinary player. I love his personality. He’s intense, committed, a winner…I admire him.”
