Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has confessed that “it’s not easy” being told that he will not play against Juventus in the Champions League final on Saturday.
The Chilean has been Barca’s No 1 in La Liga this season but has played second fiddle to Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the Copa del Rey and Champions League and consequently will not feature in the European decider at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
“It’s not easy [being told that you won’t play in a Champions League final],” he told Fox Sports.
“You always dream of playing, but you also have to be aware when you’re not playing that you must still contribute to the team.
“[Luis Enrique’s] rotation has helped to keep the team fresh. We’ve had almost no injuries this season. Mentally, the team have always been in a good way.
“Goalkeeping here is different. You’re less active but must be more attentive.
“The League is difficult and it’s the same in the Champions League, but we have a wide range of options [in the squad] that keep everyone on their toes.
“[Arturo Vidal] is a super player. He’s outstanding and has had a good year.
“[Juventus] eliminated tough opponents like [Real] Madrid along the way, so it’ll be an amazing game and a very attractive final.
“[Winning the final] would cap a spectacular year for us.”
