Escriba wanted by Getafe

Elche Coach Fran Escriba has been placed at the top of Getafe’s wanted list as they search for a permanent boss.

Pablo Franco guided the Madrid outfit to safety but it was confirmed this week that he wouldn’t be staying on the bench.

AS reports that Getafe President Angel Torres and sporting director Toni Munoz have identified Escriba as their first choice, although Escriba is also said to be the leading candidate for Sevilla should Unai Emery move on.

Escriba was previously an assistant to Quique Sanchez Flores at Getafe, in the 2004-05 season, and his name was placed on the agenda by Munoz at a meeting last week.

AS note, however, that Getafe would struggle to attract Escriba because of their parlous finances and may not be able to meet the compensation that would be due to Los Franjiverdes.
