Emery ‘close to Napoli’

Unai Emery is close to accepting an offer from Napoli but won’t decide anything until he hears a counter offer from Sevilla.

AS say Emery and Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis met in Madrid earlier this week and an offer for a three-year contract was made.

Emery is considering the proposal but won’t give an answer until speaking with his current employers, who have Monchi working overtime in an effort to keep the two-time Europa League winner.

Should Emery quit then Sevilla would seek to appoint Elche’s Fran Escriba, using much of the €1.5m in compensation for Emery’s exit to pay for the Franjiverdes trainer.

There is the possibility however that Elche’s financial situation could force the club to let go of the Coach, saving Sevilla €1m in compensation.

If Escriba can’t be brought to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan then Sevilla would turn to Sporting Lisbon’s Marco Silva, AS say.
