Ancelotti to stay in Madrid?

Carlo Ancelotti will spend his sabbatical in Madrid and may even attend Real Madrid matches as a fan.

Ancelotti was on Monday sacked by Florentino Perez and had previously said that if his time on the Santiago Bernabeu bench did end, he would take a year’s break.

AS reports that Ancelotti still intends to have some time away from football after his exit was confirmed, and that he and his wife have fallen in love with the Spanish capital and intend to stay.

Mariann Ancelotti is Spanish-Canadian, AS note, and the pair are happy in their current home, but will also use the 12 months to travel Spain.

Ancelotti will however sign up as a Madrid member and attend games as a fan, AS claim, as he remains deeply fond of Los Blancos and a number of the playing squad.

Some players, Cristiano Ronaldo included, have publically thanked Ancelotti for his work at the club, while more have contacted the Italian privately.
