Injury-hit Real Madrid name Sergio Ramos or Pepe in midfield for the Champions League quarter-final second leg visit of Atletico Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti is without Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema through injury while Marcelo is suspended after the goalless first leg.

Either Ramos or Pepe then move into midfield, reports from Spain suggest, with one of them joining Raphael Varane as the centre-back partnership, flanked by Dani Carvajal and Fabio Coentrao and in front of captain Iker Casillas.

The midfield is completed by Isco and Toni Kroos, with James Rodriguez, Javier Hernandez and Cristiano Ronaldo in attack.

Ancelotti could however send his side out with Isco and James on the wings, Ramos or Pepe and Kroos central and Ronaldo and Chicharito as a front two.

The Italian has also chosen to leave natural midfielders Asier Illarramendi, Lucas Silva and Sami Khedira on the bench.

Atletico meanwhile have Jesus Gamez in at left-back for Guilherme Siqueira, while Saul Niguez also starts.

Jan Oblak, Atleti’s first leg hero, continues in goal while Juanfran, Diego Godin and Joao Miranda join Gamez in defence.

The midfield will be made up of Koke, Tiago Mendes, Saul and Arda Turan, with Antoine Griezmann supporting Mario Mandzukic in attack.
