‘Zlatan’s one of the best’

Luis Enrique has described former Barcelona forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic as one of the best strikers in the world.

The Sweden international returns to Cap Nou on Tuesday with Paris Saint-Germain for the Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Barca lead 3-1 from the first leg, a game Ibrahimovic missed through suspension, and Enrique was asked about him at his pre-match Press conference.

“We know Ibrahimovic. He gives you something different in attack,” Enrique replied, AS reports.

“He can score with any part of his body, can create, and is one of the best centre-forwards in the world. We know him well and it will be an extra motivation.

“I can’t compare Ibrahimovic and Luis Suarez. I didn’t have Ibrahimovic. There were doubts about Suarez at first. I only have words of praise about his mind-set and his willingness from the start.

“There is uncertainty when you sign a player, even one at a high level. They have to get used to the team, the group, the city. It can be difficult but his adaptation has been meteoric.”

Enrique was also asked about Luka Modric, whose season appears to be over after a knee injury, Marco Verratti and Lionel Messi.

“PSG having Verratti and Ibrahimovic doesn’t change anything about the football,” he said.

“It increases the quality of the individual level. They are very important players in their role.

“Verratti always had the profile to play in a team that is trained the way I train teams. I love Verratti. I won’t answer to people [who try to cause problems between him and Verratti].

“Leo arrives in the best possible condition and 400 goals is an impossible figure. These numbers are unique and unrepeatable.”
