Emery: Granada equal to Zenit

Unai Emery insists Sevilla’s trip to Granada on Sunday “is as important” as Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final second leg against Zenit St Petersburg.

Valencia’s 2-0 defeat at Barcelona on Saturday means the Andalucians can move level on points with Los Che in fourth place with a win at Nuevo Los Carmenes, and the Coach has urged his side to take the match seriously.

“We want to convey that the game at Granada is as important as Thursday’s [Europa League quarter-final second leg against Zenit],” he said at a Press conference.

“We hope to end the game on 65 points and keep adding more in order for us to realise our dream [of the Champions League].

“However, winning at Granada won’t be easy. They’ve only lost one of their last 10 home matches against Barcelona.

“They also have lots to play for and will be feisty in their approach because they’re struggling near the bottom, but they have enough quality to stay up.

“The challenge is to maintain consistency and credibility in the final phase of the season.

“Each match demonstrates the competitiveness of the players. The daily level of their involvement is very high.

"Our objective is to be happy with our work and that our fans enjoy what they see.”
