‘Iniesta comparisons flattering, but…’

Isco says that while it is 'flattering' to be compared to Andres Iniesta, he wants to write his own chapter into Spanish footballing folklore.

The Real Madrid midfielder has been continually likened to his Barcelona counterpart for his stylish brand of play, but he insists he is just happy to be given the opportunity to share the same pitch as the 30-year-old for La Roja.

"We had a very good first half against Ukraine and could've scored more goals before half-time," he said at a Press conference ahead of Spain's friendly against Netherlands on Tuesday.

"In the second, as a result of them putting us under good pressure and having a good second half, it was a little more difficult for us to play our usual game. The feelings weren't as good as in the first.

"It's flattering to be compared to Andres for everything he has achieved, but as I've said many times, I don't like comparisons.

"Andres is Andres. I'm Isco, I'm different [to him] and I want to write my own story with both my club and country.

"The national team haven't been able to score many goals recently, but we had many chances to score goals [in Friday's game]. It can change from one match to another.

"With Andres, it's very good [to play alongside him]. It's very easy to get along with him, as with all the players here. They're all are very good.

"Like all Spaniards, I went crazy when [Andres] scored that goal in South Africa.

"It's important to help the AFE [Association of Spanish footballers]. We're all very much involved [in it] and it can count on us for all its needs."
