Atletico Madrid will announce Diego Simeone’s contract renewal “in the next few days”, according to the Coach’s sister and agent Natalia Simeone.
An extension for Cholo has been in the pipeline for some time, despite earlier reports that this season could be his last in the Spanish capital, and his sibling confessed ‘good news’ was on the horizon after Tuesday’s Champions League shootout success over Bayer Leverkusen.
“On Simeone’s renewal, we’ll have good news in the next few days,” she told RTVE.
“The fans are very happy [with him] at the Vicente Calderon and now they’re going to be even happier.
“Cholo always believed in the work ethic of his players. He says hard work always pays.
“It’s very exciting [for him] because the Vicente Calderon always gives him an adrenaline rush.”
