Report: €40m for Danilo

Not only do Real Madrid and Barcelona face intense competition for Porto right-back Danilo, they’ve been told the price will be €40m and no less.

Madrid and Barca are vying for the right-back with Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, according to AS, and any hope of getting Danilo on the cheap has been scotched by Porto President Pinto da Costa.

Da Costa, described by AS as a ‘Portuguese Daniel Levy’ – his Tottenham Hotspur counterpart – is understood to be insisting that Danilo leave for €40m.

The same price tag has been put on striker Jackson Martinez, the two considered the standout players of the current Porto side.

Danilo’s current Porto contract expires in the summer of 2016 and he has yet to sign a new one, which leads AS to suggest Porto will cash in at the end of the season.

Madrid, as it stands, do not want to pay the claimed price for Danilo as they feel it is excessive for a player entering the final year of his contract, but expect the Manchester clubs to meet Porto’s demands.

The Premier League pair, it’s felt, have greater resources thanks to the huge television rights deal at play in England.
