Torres earns Del Bosque praise

Spain Coach Vicente del Bosque says he has been impressed by Fernando Torres’ start to his second spell at Atletico Madrid.

The 30-year-old, a regular pick for La Roja prior to the 2014 World Cup, rejoined his boyhood club at the beginning of January and scored twice during the side’s 2-2 draw with Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey last week.

Speaking at a ceremony in Alicante on Friday, Del Bosque praised Torres‘ early form at the Vicente Calderon and hinted he would monitor the striker’s progress with the view to a potential recall.

“He has the opportunity to play and looks good. He and Atletico Madrid have rediscovered each other,” he said.

“He’s playing well and had an extraordinary game against Real Madrid.”
