‘Cordoba have achieved nothing’

Miroslav Djukic warned Cordoba against complacency ahead of their match with Levante later on Saturday. "We haven't achieved anything yet."

The new boys beat Athletic Bilbao 1-0 last weekend to end their winless start to the season and move themselves out of the relegation zone in La Liga, but the Coach maintained his side could not afford to rest on their laurels just yet.

"We haven't achieved anything yet, so we must continue working with humility," he stated at a Press conference.

"Tomorrow will be a very important match against a direct rival. A win would get us close to safety, and that's another incentive for us.

"Levante are very difficult rivals and [Lucas Alcaraz] has recovered their identity of the past. They're playing with a strong defense and direct attack.

"However, now we have to keep on improving to move forward. We must do things right. We're not obsessed with the victory, but we'll be searching from the first minute to the last.

"Whenever you win, and after so many weeks without one, it's a relief to get it at a tough venue, as it reinforces morale and makes you approach your work calmer."

Cordoba were recently banned from spending any transfer fees in January by the LFP on the basis that the club had reached their maximum budget allocation, but Djukic insisted it would not impact on their push for reinforcements.

"Everybody in the club knows they're going to try. Our recruitment team are travelling the world to see if we can add players," he added.

"If we can improve then so be it, otherwise my main task is to maximise the performances of our current players and improve our fortunes.

"I am aware that I joined a team who would encounter difficulties in signing players.

"At the moment, we have too many players, and it's very difficult to work with a squad of 25 – Real Madrid only have 18.

"It's unpleasant to deal with real situations, having to leave out certain players. It's not nice."
