Carlo Ancelotti has left out Iker Casillas and Isco from the Real Madrid XI to play Rayo Vallecano.

Keylor Navas and Gareth Bale come into the side, as do Nacho and Pepe, with Alvaro Arbeloa and Raphael Varane the other changes from the side that beat Liverpool in midweek.

Bale’s return means he is reunited with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema while James Rodriguez keeps his place.

Speculation said it would be Isco or James to make way for Bale, with the World Cup Golden Boot getting the nod.

Rayo meanwhile go with Christian Alvarez in goal instead of Tono and Abdoulaye Ba in place of Antonio Amaya.

Mohamed Fatau partners Roberto Trashorras in midfield and Lica, Gael Kakuta and Alberto Bueno support Leo Baptistao.

Real Madrid: Navas; Nacho, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo; Kroos, Modric, James; Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale

Rayo Vallecano: Cristian; Tito, Ze, Abdoulaye, Insua; Fatau, Trashorras; Lica, Kakuta, Bueno; Baptistao
