Ramos: Madrid great everywhere

Sergio Ramos was greatly impressed by Real Madrid’s performance in the win over Barcelona as he returned to the side from injury.

Ramos partnered Pepe in the heart of the Madrid defence and saw his colleague score the second goal of Madrid’s 3-1 win.

Neymar had put Barca in front before Cristiano Ronaldo levelled from the penalty spot. Karim Benzema added the third.

“I’m very happy. The team was great in all areas and in all aspects, despite the goal conceded,” he told reports, according to AS.

“We had very clear ideas and we dominated. Not only when we had the ball but on the counter-attack too. It was a very complete performance.

“Football is a game of stages and you have to know how to react. We managed to do that and we coped.

“We didn’t only play on the break but we entered their half, had possession and they’re not used to that and we hurt them.”

On the subject of Pepe’s goal, Ramos said that set-pieces at both ends were important to the victory.

“We have to continue to improve how we defend corners,” he noted.

“This time it went for us and Pepe got a gift and scored a good goal.”
